Teen Accused Of Stabbing Homeless Woman Pleads Not Guilty

A teenager accused in a knife attack on a 50-year-old homeless woman in Red Bluff has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. 18-year-old Chuslum Buckskin was in court Monday. In August, he and a 14-year-old accomplice allegedly shouted that they hate homeless people as they stabbed the victim dozens of times in broad daylight. Rosie Lander was in her tent in an open space near Crosby Lane and Spyglass Drive when she was attacked, suffering about 40 stab wounds and lacerations before the assailants fled. She was hospitalized with life threatening injuries, but Red Bluff Police say she made some “keen observations” during the attack that led detectives to the two boys. Rosie has since been discharged from the hospital.
