Man Faces 10 Years In Prison On Federal Gun Charges

A Redding man faces a federal indictment for possessing a gun. 49-year-old Gabriel Joseph Detrant is prohibited from possessing guns due to multiple prior felony convictions. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that during a traffic stop by Redding Police in February of last year Detrant and his passenger fled on foot, leaving behind a loaded 9 millimeter handgun next to the driver’s seat near Detrant’s wallet. He was reportedly found in the bushes with a loaded magazine for the gun in his pocket. If convicted he could face 10 years in prison and a Quarter Million Dollar fine.
