A California Highway Patrol Captain in the Sutter-Yuba area was found dead in the State of Tennessee, officials said Tuesday. Her death comes months after her husband’s shooting death, which is being investigated as a homicide. The Clay County Sheriff in Tennessee told KCRA 3 in Sacramento that 49-year-old Julie Harding was found dead Saturday morning in the county with a gunshot wound and that her death investigation was handed over to the state. The CHP said Julie was on leave at the time when she died. The Clay County Sheriff also confirmed that Julie’s husband, Michael Harding, disappeared while in the county and was found dead in Kentucky. A source told KCRA 3 that Michael was shot and killed in Kentucky. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said it assisted Kentucky authorities in arresting Thomas Francis O’Donnell last Thursday at the Sacramento International Airport in connection with Michael’s killing. The sheriff’s office said the warrant for O’Donnell’s arrest was issued in Cumberland County, Kentucky, on a murder charge. It is unknown if someone shot Julie or if the gunshot wounds were self-inflicted, officials said.
