Voters Will Decide Future Of Fast Food Workers Pay Increase

Fast food workers in California will have to wait until at least next year to see a $22 an hour wage. The Fast Food Recovery Act or FAST was signed into law by Governor Newsom in September, and was set to go into effect in January, but two days later it was met with a voter referendum to block it. The referendum got One Million signatures in 90 days and will be on the ballot next November. The FAST Act would have created a 10-member Fast Food Counci” with wide ranging authority over fast food restaurants in California, including wages, working conditions, and hours.
