Local Students Gather Over 3,000 Items For Families Of Fellow Classmates

In what Principal Denise Humphrey calls “an extraordinary undertaking”, the students and faculty of Redding’s Manzanita Elementary School have collected more than 3,000 non perishable food items. The food drive began in late November and ended on Friday. The donations are being distributed to 16 families of Manzanita students. The 530 students at the school held a competition among classrooms, and Mrs. Hyatt’s first grade class collected the most, with 311 items, so they’ll get a pizza party provided by the Manzanita Parent Club.
