Man Killed In Broadside Collision On Highway 44 In Palo Cedro

A man died in a broadside collision on Highway 44 just east of Palo Cedro Wednesday afternoon. At 10 minutes after 2PM a man driving a 2000 Toyota Solara was northbound on Silver Bridge Road and came to the stopsign at Highway 44. After stopping, he proceeded into the intersection, apparently failing to see that he was driving directly into the path of an eastbound Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep struck the Toyota on the driver’s side, killing the man. The driver and passenger of the Jeep, Arthur and Lori Howatt of Shingletown, were both transported to Mercy Hospital with moderate injuries. Witnesses to the crash are asked to call the CHP at 225-0500.
