A suspected burglar had to be gassed out after hiding in an attic, according to Redding Police. Saturday afternoon a man called 9-1-1 and said he was watching remote video surveillance of his vacant house on Harpole Road when he saw someone force his way in the front door. Police got there and surrounded the place, and at the front door they met 28-year-old Troy Fritchman, who was wanted for domestic violence, child abuse, criminal threats and more. He refused to come out, instead retreating into the house. A search was done and Fritchman was found hiding in the crawl space above the ceiling. He still refused to surrender and said he had a gun and a knife. He was driven out with a chemical irritant but reportedly fought with the officers, trying to bite one of them. Duke the K9 helped bring Fritchman under control and he was booked into jail.
