RPD’s Crisis Intervention Response Team Reaches Out To The Homeless Ahead Of Winter Storm

A lot of people are concerned about the plight of the homeless during nasty weather, but the Redding Police Department wants everyone to know that they’re trying to help. Redding’s Crisis Intervention Response Team, consisting of two police officers and a mental health clinician, reached out to some of the homeless population Tuesday night. They worked the area under the west end of the Cypress Avenue Bridge where Park Marina Drive goes under the bridge, as well as the mostly empty A.C.I.D. Canal where it runs between City Hall and Crown Motors. Those contacted were offered resources, including available beds at the Good News Rescue Mission. Nobody took them up on the offer.
