The Bureau of Reclamation is going to keep more water in Lake Shasta as the releases into the Sacramento River will be reduced over the next week. The current flow of 4,050 cubic feet per second will drop gradually until it’s at 3,250 CFS by Thursday of next week. Recent storms have brought the lake level up 61 feet from its lowest level in mid-November. The level is now less than 88 feet from the crest of the dam. Even without rain, there’s still inflow exceeding output, with an increase of more than a half a foot since Tuesday. Much more water is needed to get the state out of a crisis, with most of California still considered to be in moderate or severe drought.
