Tehama County Deputies To Resume Daytime Patrols After Staffing Crisis

Law abiding Tehama County residents will be relieved to hear that the Sheriff’s Office is going to resume 24 hour patrol services. A staffing crisis has prompted the Sheriff’s Department to suspend services, leaving the burden of answering calls for service to the CHP. Tehama County Sheriff Dave Kain credits the Board of Supervisors for a significant increase in the salary for deputies, which has led to an increase in recruits and a return of some deputies who had left to work for other agencies. Although the department is still understaffed, the situation has apparently improved dramatically. The Sheriff’s Department main office will resume operations from 8AM to 4PM weekdays starting February 1st and patrol services will resume February 26th.
