Applications Now Being Accepted To Serve On The Shasta County Grand Jury

Almost anyone with a little bit of free time and a sense of civil justice should consider applying to be on the Shasta County Grand Jury. The panel investigates any publicly administered and funded agency, either by their own initiative or in response to public complaints. They meet twice a month. Being a Grand Juror requires about 15 or 20 hours a week making on-site investigations or inspections all over the county. Superior Court Judges choose 30 applicants and 19 are drawn randomly to be the Grand Jury, with the remaining as alternates. In Shasta County, the Grand Jury term of service is 1 year. Applications are due by April 7th. Potential Grand Jurors will be interviewed in mid-May and impaneled June 14th. More details are at shastacountygrandjury.org.
